This October Stayfree Music in partnership with Unglamorous band
members are offering taster sessions to womxn who are interested in
playing music in in a safe environment. Complete beginners are
welcome, as are those who are a bit more experienced.
Participants will have the chance to try different instruments and to have a basic jam with others. Those interested in joining or forming a band will be invited to join other womxn’s weekend workshops and to jam sessions with others who are looking for bandmates.
These sessions are aimed at women, trans and non-binary people who are generally under-represented in bands.
Come to this 2 week pedals intro course that will introduce:
pedal practicalities types
pedal order and building effects

Do you know your
Phaser from your
Flanger?
Our first skills development workshops are now available to book! Taking place over 2 weeks, 2 experienced local musicians will be covering all things pedal related.
With introductions to pedal types, set-ups, looping and experimenting with creative sound, you will get the chance to learn about using pedals to enhance your music. The sessions are focused on guitars, but can be applicable to bass, vocals and other instruments. You are encouraged to bring your instrument and any pedals you own, but there will be equipment available to use on the day.
The two 3-hour sessions are £50 inclusive of both weeks and include tuition, rooms and provided equipment. There are also some discounted sessions available for those on a low income. Session 2 builds upon session 1, but please get in touch if you can only attend one of them. Both sessions will include both looping and creative sound.
Learn in a supportive environment with other emerging musicians – beginners welcome!
Bring any pedals you have, try pedals and different equipment in the workshop, and take part in our open bring/try/swap/buy session at the end of the course.
These sessions are aimed at women, trans and non-binary people who are generally under-represented in bands.
